Rivers McCown is a Houston-born personality and writer with a primary focus on sports. He’s currenly the assistant editor at Football Outsiders (and contributed chapters and editing to Football Outsiders Almanac 2011), contributes pieces to ESPN’s Insider section, and mixes in the spare Texans piece for Battle Red Blog. In the past, he has written for SB Nation Houston, The Daily Cougar, MetsGeek, Armchair GM, and most importantly, Future Considerations, which was linked on Deadspin several times when it was under the direction of Will Leitch. He has also been a game charter for Football Outsiders since 2007, was an intern for them in 2008, and was credited in Pro Football Prospectus 2007 & 2008, as well as Football Outsiders Almanac 2009. He’s covered the NFL Combine for SB Nation, interviewed several players, including Texans quarterback Matt Schaub, and has also made a number of radio appearances. Finally, in non-sports writing, he was an editorial assistant for Gulf Coast Magazine, and was credited in Gulf Coast Volume 21, No. 2.
